The First Special Action Force, Asia (SAFA) was based on the island of
Okinawa. SAFA had responsibility for the
Pacific Theater. Duty stations were throughout Southeast Asia. My tours of duty
were in these countries:

and Okinawa (one tour)
Today: Civilian
Today, I am living in San Jose, California, gateway to San Francisco, with my wife, Daramith. I am retired from two, 20-year careers: the first as a soldier in the US Army, and the second as Business Manager for FMC (United Defense). I have three adult daughters from a prior marriage, all living in the eastern part of the United States.
I have one granddaughter and one grandson.
I have wrapped up my volunteer work for the Republican Party of Santa Clara County, California, where I served as Web Master and Systems Manager of a large computer server network, a cluster of client PCs, a high capacity printer/copier, and a local area network (LAN) to provide connectivity. In May of 2005 I turned over these tasks to another volunteer.
...And my current undertaking is the maintenance and updating of this web site. I agreed to this task under the able direction of Alan Berry. I also maintain the class list server forum, called the L-P Forum. I hope you use the site in the coming years. It will help us remember old acquaintances and renew friendships from our youth.
... And if Astrid can have her quilting, I can have my roses.
Hereunder, see a rose from one of my favorite Hybrid-Teas, rose bushes ... that is in bloom for the second time this year. Features: It has huge buds, large double flowers, resistant to plant diseases and insect infestation, bleaches in the sun, dark and Leathery foliage, very fragrant, good cutting rose. ... And big thorns that hurt! She is a real beauty!
... And yes, admittedly, I do talk to her to tell her how beautiful she is. ...And this is how she answers me:

Sint Maarten, N.A.: October 2005 Vacation
One week at Sint Maarten/St. Martin in the Caribbean Ocean. Jim
lay on the beach, played in the ocean, drove around the island,
read books and took photos. Wife and sister-in-law shopped
until they dropped. This island is a wonderful vacation spot.

My wife, Daramith, met and talked with Alan Bean. Here is a photo of them at the Ritz-Carlton in Orlando, Florida in June, 2005. You may recall that Astronaut Alan Bean was the second man to walk on the moon. Reportedly, their conversation led around to "sending me to the moon." Hmmmm?
